POTATOES GRATIN DAUPHINOIS


Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 1 hour 30 mins
Oven: 300 Degrees

Serves: 4


450 g good quality potatoes
2 garlic cloves crushed
150 ml double cream
Ground nutmeg
25g butter
Salt and ground black pepper to taste


1.Peel the potatoes and slice them very, very thinly.

2.Wash the sliced potatoes in cold water, then dry thoroughly.

3.In a well buttered 8 inch shallow gratin dish arrange a layer of potato slices, a sprinkling of crushed garlic, salt and pepper.

4.Then add another layer of potatoes and seasoning.

5.Mix the cream and milk together, and then pour it over the potatoes.

6.Sprinkle with a little of the nutmeg and add the butter in little flecks over the surface.

7.Bake on a high shelf in the oven for 1 hour and 30 mins.

Best served hot, great with any meat or fish dish
